Classes
Jewelry metalsmithing classes are now being offered right in our studio!  Come join the fun and learn how to express your creativity in a new
medium!  Listed below are the six classes being offered for the winter months of 2008.  Class sizes are limited so
register early to reserve your
spot.

Beginning
Metalsmithing class.

Beginning Metalsmithing

At least 20 hours of instruction will include safety
issues in the studio, some basics in metallurgy,
knowledge of basic tools and cover techniques in
sawing, filing, drilling, piercing, some simple
wrapping, surface treatments and some cold
connections.  You will also have the opportunity to
learn about annealing metal with a torch.  No
soldering, casting or PMC will be taught in this
class.  You will make at least two pieces of
wearable jewelry.  Fee includes all handouts,
materials (copper and brass) and tools.  Silver
sheet and wire will be available for purchase at
cost.  This class is $140.00 plus tax and runs 4
hours per week for five weeks.  Class size is limited
to 6 students.  Prerequisite: None

Fall class dates to be posted by Sept 1st, 2008
and will begin end of September/beginning
October
MORE Metalsmithing!

At least 20 hours of instruction will include more
advance techniques in texturing, including mill
printing, reticulation and etching, including learning
how to etch your own brass sheet to make a texture
plate to use in mill printing. Class will also learn how
to fabricate a simple clasp, a tab set or bezel set
cabochon, and a simple metal bead.  You will have
time to make 2 pieces of wearable jewelry.  No casting
or PMC will be taught in this class.  Fee includes all
handouts, tools, including use of torch, and materials
(copper & brass).  Silver sheet, tube and wire will be
available to purchase at cost.  This class is $160.00
plus tax and runs four hours per week for 5 weeks.  
Class size is limited to 4 students.  Prerequisite:
Beginning Metalsmithing and Soldering Workshop
Materials Fee $5.00

Fall class dates to be posted by Sept 1st, 2008 and
will begin end of September/beginning October.
Soldering Workshop

In this personal, one on one workshop, you will
receive up to 10 hours of instruction and practice
time.   You will learn about some torch and fuel
options, safety issues, review some basics in
metallurgy, cover the many different types of
precious metal solder and learn three types of
soldering joins (butt soldering, sweat soldering and
set in soldering).  You will make at least one piece
of wearable jewelry.  Fee includes all handouts,
tools and materials (copper & brass).  Silver sheet
and wire will be available for purchase at cost.  This
personal, one on one workshop is $100.00 plus tax
and is scheduled individually.   Prerequisite:  
Beginning Metalsmithing  
Materials fee $5.00

Due to increasing metals prices, we've
been forced to add a very small
materials fee to our classes.  Materials
fees for each class are shown in
RED
at the end of each class description
and can be paid first day of class.
Even MORE Metalsmithing!

At least 20 hours of instruction will include more
etching instruction and some ring fabrication.  We will
also be making beads, with all raw material provided,
and combining student beads into a necklace that will
be donated to the auction benefiting the Kitsap
Humane Society!  This class is $160.00 plus tax and
runs four hours per week for 5 weeks.  Class size is
limited to 4 students.  Prerequisite: Beginning
Metalsmithing and Soldering Workshop
Materials Fee $5.00
